2017 is the year of the pansy (according to The National Garden Bureau). Pansies are pretty awesome for gardeners living in the Northern region of the US because they can withstand temps below freezing, and can tolerate light frost.
Pansies thrive in temperatures between 40 and 60 degrees, making them perfect for our early Spring season. They’re also great because when they are planted in the fall, they will come back in the Spring after the snow is gone, and they’ll come back more vigorous.
One of the main reasons I love pansies so much is because they come in a ton of different colors, including my favorite color – purple! They last from the early Spring until mid to late summer, maybe even all summer if it doesn’t get too hot.
